Sweet Lolita
also known as ama-loli in Japanese, is heavily influenced by Rococo styles as well as Victorian and Edwardian clothing. Focusing on the child and fantasy aspects of Lolita, the Sweet Lolita style adopts the basic Lolita format and uses lighter colors and childlike motifs in its design.
Makeup used in sweet Lolita is common throughout most Lolita styles. Pink, Peach, or Pearl make up styles are highly 'sweet' and used by many Sweet Lolitas. This look, paired with a shade of bright pink, red or sometimes nude-pink lipstick, is commonly used as well.
Outfits consist of pastels, fruit themes (cherries or strawberries, or any type of sugary fruit), flowers (roses, jasmines, lily, cherry blossoms) lace, bows, animal themes (cats, bunnies, puppies) and ribbons to emphasize the cuteness of the design. Popular themes in the sweet Lolita are references to Alice in Wonderland, sweets, and classic fairy tales. Jewelry often reflects this fantasy theme. Headdresses, bonnets and bows are a popular hair accessory to the sweet Lolita look. Bags and purses usually have a princess-like design and often take the shape of strawberries, crowns, hearts, and stuffed animals.
- Style is playful, magical, childish, innocent.
- The main eras of influence are Rococo, Victorian and Edwardian.
- The modern Ama Lolita style has influences from Hime Gyaru and Otome fashion, while Kote Lolita also takes its influence from Decora.
- Clothing is usually pastel colors, such as pink, sax blue, lavender, or mint. But there is also red, white, black, yellow and dark blue.
- Prints of fairytales, pastries, toys, flowers or other magical themes. Fabric patterns include tartan check, gingham, hearts, stars and flowers.
- Clothing is often decorated with many ribbons, pearls, embroidery, lace and other delicate details.

- Overknee socks has become increasingly popular rather than knee socks. Ankle socks are also rising in popularity.

- Accessories include chokers, and usually plastic jewelry (rings, necklaces, bracelets) in shapes of hearts, ribbons, animals, pastries etc.
- Bags are plain, or in form of animals, ribbons, hearts or stars.
- The current hairstyle trend is inspired by Hime Gyaru fashion, which includes large updos with curls. Other hairstyles include straight with bangs, large curly ponytails or in general curled hair.
- Colorful wigs are essential for Kote Lolitas. Two-toned wigs have gained popularity for some time.

Examples for Sweet Lolita brands are
Baby, The Stars Shine Bright (Baby, for short or BTSSB)
Metamorphose temps de fille. (Meta, for short)
Emily Temple cute (sister brand of Shirley Temple, a Japanese boutique),
Wigs are a BIG trend at the moment in Lolita HEAVLY used in sweet loli
this sweet loli co-od differs from the old ones that just used one straight color in that this one has heaps of features and surface detail that the old school didn't
This is a REALLY beautfil picture,
now this picture really messes with my brain, one it's really squueee (^▼^) but manly for the fact that it's a cute child wearing an outfit designed and made for grown ups so that they can look and wear childish stuff.
it feels like it's totaly inverting lolita, GAH my brain (´;ω;`)
i really like the use of black in this co-od the dramtic contrast really makes the colors pop and stand out far more than before when the colors just blended together in a eye bleaching chaoick mix
these two images are good examples of whats called Twinning, when you and a friend(or another lolita) wear the same outfit, usely an OP in two different colors, this practice is seen more often in Sweet Lolita and with AP, i think due to the large amount of cute present in the style and predominats of AP in this style, one major critque of this that sometimes it can be overdone and you end up with whats called creepy AP clones in that the lolitas are amost idential, make-up, wig lolita Dolls apat from the different color.
I think twinning says quite a bit about the lolitas who wear them, one you have to have enough money to buy two of the same outfit, the op in both of these pics is the AP Sugary Carnival op, it's um famous, it's like the poster dress of OTT sweet, and in normal fashion talk it's kind of like the Dior LBD -little black dress of Sweet lolita. and at LEAST over $400 US and thats just the OP, so yes you need enough money and a very strong friendship with the other lolita your twinning with. cause as far as i know lolita are just like everyone else, not very fond of matching unless on purpose expect unlike mainstream fashion in which matching is not looked at fondly/unfashionable, being able to twin in lolita is kind of a status symbol and sisterhood/close friendship.
the lolita in the mint blue on the left is Cadney, shes a well know or at least a very recognisable lolita with in OTT sweet.
