i color coded each type and section to make it easyer and to give it a bit of quirk

fabric/color board final
this would of course have fabric on it the back ground is to show the prints i designed,
the fabric i have cut out in heart shapes to hang on this board.
design updates and corrupted files
baby doll prototypes
i picked the baby doll from starry sky to test out as a toile mostly because i've never made one before, and i wanted to work out the best/nicest bodice for it that would suit.
my first um like 2/3ish goes was to try and replicate this feature that ive never done before, the red one is the most common type you see
where as the fitted one is less uncommon.
i wanted to make a more fitted bodice instead of all the gathering
i'd have to say that making a fitted one is FAR harder than i though given that the gathered verison is SO easy to made, cause its just rectangles with angles cut for the armsyth.
it took me about 2-3 hours to get to the first test, which keep ridding up, wouldn't fit around the bust. and was to long over the bust.
my second had a lowered neck/bust line and more fullness in the sleeves to stop it ridding up.
at this point a related that this type of feature was designed to give flat, thin asien girls curves. and that sizing it up for a pluss size person who has no trouble with curves just make them look much bigger ^.^ so at this point i was almost in tears because i couldn't get it to work and i felt "ugly"
my third test was using a gathered under bust pattern that i had from sem1 pattern that i cut the neck down and just gathered the underbust more,
this resuit was much better than my last two ties.
after which i started wondering about which type of feature i wanted to use for the under bust fabric drop,
cirle, less bulk, non-dictional fabric, less fabric depending on the length.
rectangle/dendli skirt
lots of bulk, works with diretional prints, fabric use depends on the lenth.
i picked cirle because i wanted a smoother line from my bust to my skirt part, which doesn't work that well with a rectangle cause it poufs out.
i big thing that i wanted to consider was on plus size and smoother line is better with a cirle skirt as it cuts down on the smough look (preg belly look) which is another reason i picked the circle.
i didn't have enough time to finish sewing it up but from my drape test and holding it up, it seams like i finally found a mix that suits and work'd out for the most part the gerenal construction, look and style.

ruffle butt bloomers and stockings, corset
one of my other sample that i had a go at was ruffle back bloomers, i spend about 2-3 hours hand stamping the fabric with blue bows,
then i cut out and spent several hours rolled edge overlocking strips of cream pongee and then ruffled and sewd on the back of the bloomers, sewd the lace elastic on the legs and sewd left over ruff to the bottom.
if i made this again i would made the ruffles the same color as the base bloomers and make the ruffles probly double the leght/height
i dont have any good pics sorry ^.^;;;; just a small scan

the stockings were a challenge, it took me a day or so to find a pattern for one, but i couldn't find a full tights pattern only angle legth and stocking type.
while at the same time having a major hunt for a pastel pink fabric paint, that wasn't neon.
stamping both pieces of the stockings took about 2ish hours, and kind of hurt cause i had to sit on the kitchen floor for the soild surface.
some of my tests
spec development
while i was surfing the new releases of the EGL forums i found a link to Meta's Rose Letter which had scans of there spec sheets which i thought was very interesting
this arn't the finals, i did a bit of changing on the comp for some of them

illustrations development
for my illustration i think i may follow what did last time e.g being very defined, lace textured backgrounds brushes etc. but with more of a chalky messly feel.
i use ALOT of masks when i use photoshop it's just easyer and safer in my option, here im trying to line the stripes up with the direction on the garment
the best lolita illustrations are by a lady called Imai Kira she does the illustrations for AP and is very famous for her work and if lolita dont know she they do know the illustrations.
because im not very good at drawing but im good at tracing i thought i would pick from some of Imai Kira's illustration and modify and trace to get a base for my illustration.
my tracing first verisons this one are missing part of the outfit that i need to go back and change
fixed verisons
screenshoot of my progress on illus 1
with color, fabric and shading, this was before i went for the messy chalk look.
