starry sky bolero sample

i kind of focused on the starry sky outfit to do some samples with first one was the bolero

i made this bolero from a modified historial i think it was a butterrick pattern.
the orignal pattern din't meet at the front, as i think it was for someone with a much smaller bust
i spent a few hours doubting my skills because the i didn't have a manaquin that was my perfect size cause i was wanting to move the dart and add more to the bottom to cover my bust i think i went though about 2-3 prototypes before i got it to work

i desided on a rounded shawl back sailor collar with flared/ bishop sleeves

after i worked out the pattern it only took like less than
a hour and a half from cutting out to sewn and finished with bias, the fact that i didn't need to overlock it made a differnt to the time spent,

like my last few samples i wore it out for a few goes to see how it handled,
some of the things i discovred were
it's so warm and fuzzzzy <3,
it co-ods so so well with so many of my other outfits, the pasell and cream satin edging made it blend very well with both bold and simple outfits,
the bolero style show off more of the outfit rather than covering up details, this style works really well with jsks and ops it work really well with baby dolls as it creates a lovely line on the body due to the fact that it stops when the baby doll starts and show off the pretty long dress skt part of a baby doll

the polar fleese is thick enough to stop the wind and rain, but isn't to heavy or hot.
i went out on one of the super wind days and felt really comable.

the bishop type gathered sleeve doesn't work very well with fleece because its to stiff, and the long flared sleeve suits it far better and is much cuter and funner to wear ^.^ i went back and changed the design to suit the flare sleeve.

because i did satin bias on the edges one long go including the collar i worked out after having to unpick it that i needed to change from stitch in the ditch on the outside to stitch in the ditch on the inside so would be a nice ffinish/look because of the way the bolero collar is sewn.

i did have a problem with some of the side seams popping beccasue the fleese stretched when i put it on so next time i would 4 or 5 thread overlock instead of sewing, which would give a nice finish in the inside.

i really really love this bolero, and ive never had good luck with boleros before mostly because i have trouble finding ones that can fit my bust, which is a problem i know alot of lolita and just normal plus-size girls have.

i had a moment when wearing this when i was on a snack run, it was raining but no wind and i was walking, not running cause i like when it rains, and i was wavying the long sleeves back and forth and spalashing in all the puddles, just feeling like everything was right in the world even though i had like 3 assginment due, was tired and hadn't eat that day and it was amost 6pm, i still felt safe comable and protected, and then i decided for no reason i was going to run down the big hill in the middle of massey that goes to the basin, giggling like a little kid, it was pure AWESOME mostly because i have dyspraxia, which means i have trouble with motor control, and  have trouble going any faster than a slow short run so the fact i was pretty much throwing myself down this hill was awesome, the people walking up thought i was totally INSANE, which just made me giggle even louder, i love it i felt like a little kid who could dream and play to they hearts content.

because the sleeves were now blank i though doing a fleese cut shooting star like one of my sample that was a cut out appalie, would look really cute and would tie in the starry sky theme with each of the parts being a diffent color XD

this bolero is perfect for fall weather and warm winter days and nights,
i got the polar fleese from arthur toye for $10m and only used about a 1m - 1.5m and i used about 3.5m of bias, which was about $2ish per m
with the simply of the design and the easy to do star design, it took me about 1.5 hours so with bow and shooting star about 2 hoursish, which if this was industry would probly be made in less than a half an hour.
